Bellevue College offers numerous academic options designed to meet the needs of students whether looking to enter into the field through an associates degree, obtain advanced technical skills through advanced certificates, or compete an bachelors degree to become more competitive in the Nuclear Medicine field. This is the only Nuclear Medicine program in Washington State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: Associate Degree<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students looking to enter the Nuclear Medicine profession must first complete an Associates Degree Program in Nuclear Medicine. Bellevue College\u2019s Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) program is an eighteen-month, full-time program leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree.  It is offered through a cooperative effort between Bellevue College and a number of area hospitals and clinics. It is part of a larger career pathway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: National Certification Exam<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Upon successful completion of the program, you\u2019ll be eligible to apply to take the national certification exams through the NMTCB<\/a> and ARRT<\/a> as well as Washington State licensure. This is the only Nuclear Medicine Technology program in Washington State. The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Step 3: Advanced Certifications<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nuclear medicine technologists can earn advanced credentials in specialty areas within nuclear medicine, such as nuclear cardiology, PET, and radiation safety. They can also earn credentials in the radiology specialties of CT and MRI. Bellevue College offers Baccalaureate Certificates in the latter two modalities. Students will meet the structured education requirement for the selected credential and can complete a clinical practicum where they can achieve the necessary competencies. Additional courses within the certificate emphasize sectional anatomy and pathophysiology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4: Bachelors Degree Completion<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bellevue College offers several Bachelor of Applied Science degree options for current registered Nuclear Medicine professionals. These include the Technology concentration in the Radiation and Imaging Sciences degree; the Healthcare Management and Leadership degree; and the Healthcare Informatics degree. All are based on the \u201c2+2 model,\u201d meaning you come in with a 2-year professional\/technical degree and complete your last 2 years at Bellevue College to earn your 4-year Bachelor\u2019s degree!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
