Bellevue College is committed to high-quality, accessible, and engaging online education. The Online Excellence Teaching Academy (OETA), developed and led by Interactive eLearning in collaboration with Faculty Commons and the BC Librarians, supports this mission by providing structured professional development for faculty teaching credit-bearing online courses.

Established under the leadership of former President Gary Locke, the OETA ensures that instructors are equipped with the tools, strategies, and support they need to succeed in virtual learning environments. The program is delivered in two phases, totaling 34 hours of training and focuses on Canvas proficiency, effective pedagogy, digital tools, accessibility, and more.
