OLS Staff Member Featured in Internship Blog Post

OLS Internship Coordinator Pilar López was recently interviewed in Lyn Miller-Lachmann‘s blog post Working While Autistic: How Internships Can Help. In her post, Lyn illustrates her own struggles with an internship and talks about what programs can do to help make internships more successful for people with autism.

Pilar shared how OLS approaches internships to help students find success with them.

Each student in the OLS Program completes a 200-hour internship in their final semester of the program. Students meet with our Internship Coordinator to assess the student’s skill-sets and, in turn, refine the search for a suitable internship position in their chosen pathway. A successful internship is the product of a thorough assessment of the student’s strengths and challenges, a well-defined career path, intense market research and continuous support from the Internship Coordinator to both the local business providing the internship, and the student throughout the experience.
