OSHA Research & Presentations

Students work together at a computerThis quarter students enrolled in Controversial Issues in the Workplace spent time reflecting on their internship target and researching OSHA publications that would likely apply to their workplace. After researching both of these topics, they presented the information in class.

Analyzing OSHA publications and generalizing them to potential future workplaces requires the students to utilize their social thinking and critical thinking skills and prepares them to take action if they are confronted with a controversial issue in the workplace. Students spent time reviewing what lead up to these types of laws being enforced in the workplace and what the modern trends of these laws target.

Student reflections:

“Every worker has rights. Every employee should be treated with respect. OSHA is the solution.” – Michael
“I learned more about all kinds of safety in any work environment from other students and the OSHA website.” – Ingrid
“I enjoyed presenting my knowledge of workplace safety for the OSHA presentation. It’s really neat learning about the procedures involved in the workplace in the event of an emergency.” – Marcus
