Dream Prints

By the end of their first year in the OLS program, students are ready to take an important step in self-determination by speaking confidently about who they are, what they want, and what help they may need to achieve their dreams. They will build on this foundation over the next few years leading up to graduation.

In June first year students completed their culminating project by presenting their Dream Print presentations to their Dream Team of supporters. Student talked about their values, interests, and the strengths they have discovered in themselves and their goals for the future. They advocated for support to achieve those goals.

This project is focused on self-determination but really touches on all of the core concepts of OLS. In the past students may have been told what to do, what they are good at, and what they are not good at. This is an opportunity for them to assert themselves as the person in charge of their life.

Even though some students could not have imagined giving a big presentation in front of family and strangers, students feel a great sense of accomplishment when they do. The confidence and skills they’ve gained just in their first year at OLS have helped them find strengths they didn’t know they had.

Self-Determination is one of the many courses OLS Students take to obtain their associate degree from OLS. More information about our curriculum is available on our website. To learn more about our program, register for an Information Session.
