Mind Mapping

group of students work at white board in class

Students taking Cultural Awareness this fall recently completed an exercise exploring prejudices in hiring, followed by creating a mind map around prejudicial attitudes. Mind mapping consists of visually organizing information in a diagram, showing the hierarchical relationship between pieces of information.

This activity helps promote self-awareness around prejudice and global awareness. Students recognized behaviors, such as bullying, discrimination, and stereotyping, connected to prejudice, and this exercise allowed them to experience different perspectives around sensitive topics such as prejudice, privilege, and diversity.

Cultural Awareness is one of the many courses OLS Students can take to obtain their associate degree from OLS. More information about our curriculum is available on our website. To learn more about our program register for an Information Session.
