Start of Quarter Ice Breakers

6-sided dice with words on sides instead of dots

Three of our courses got to kick off fall quarter with a fun ice breaker to help students learn more about each other’s
interests and strengths and get students out of their comfort zone by exploring new experiences.

Students virtually rolled a dice that has a different action on each side:

  • Sing Out Loud
  • Be Adventurous
  • Enjoy the Sunshine
  • Be Happy
  • Eat Dessert First
  • Be Spontaneous

Then, over the weekend, students looked for opportunities to achieve what they rolled. Students shared stories and
pictures of their experiences over Teams Chat during class. It led to some really interesting conversations for all.

As a bonus, the class decided students will make their own dice to represent themselves. We cna’t wait to see what the students come up with!

Here’s some examples of what our students did with their dice rolls:

TJ: Sing Out Loud – German Folk Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ihb0tKQcdp8

Brittney: Enjoy the Sunshine – Took two puppies to the park

Samantha: Be Adventurous – Made a beautiful green scarf

Erin: Sing Out Loud – Sang with YouTube

Emma: Be Spontaneous – Planted Succulents

Alfred: Be Adventurous – Ate custard for the first time – “Loved it; I will eat it again!”
