{"id":5037,"date":"2021-03-16T09:26:57","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T16:26:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ols-redesign-dev\/?p=5037"},"modified":"2025-07-15T09:36:35","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T16:36:35","slug":"ols-alumni-earns-railroad-conductor-certificate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ols\/2021\/03\/16\/ols-alumni-earns-railroad-conductor-certificate\/","title":{"rendered":"OLS Alumni Earns Railroad Conductor Certificate"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>We recently caught up with Chris, OLS Class of 2019, and we are so excited to share that he completed Railroad Conductor Training in July 2020 through Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>\u201cI learned the&nbsp;many&nbsp;different&nbsp;aspects&nbsp;of the&nbsp;railroad industry from the&nbsp;types of railroad operations (e.g., CTC, ABS, TWC) and knowing how&nbsp;to handle certain situations while on a run, and doing it safely,\u201d he says. \u201cI plan on starting to apply for a full-time job in the railroad industry in following&nbsp;my passion and career&nbsp;pathway.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>Chris has dreamed of working for the railroad for a long time, and we are proud to have been a part of his journey toward that goal. \u201cHaving courses dedicated to identifying and investigating your career pathway really helped me,\u201d says Chris. \u201cIf I haven\u2019t done this before, I wouldn\u2019t have discovered the NARS program and not be where I am today. Having this knowledge of exploring different career pathways has set me up in having a successful and satisfying career.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>During his time with OLS, Chris identified his career pathway to a career with the railroad and completed his internship with the Northwest Railway Museum, where he continued to volunteer after graduation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>Way to go, Chris!
