He\u2019s organizing equipment, setting up water, checking in with coaches, and making sure details behind the scenes are ready for tip-off.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>That\u2019s what being a team manager is all about, and it\u2019s a role Logan has ample experience with. It\u2019s also part of his larger career goal after he graduates from the OLS program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>Logan first learned about OLS during his sophomore year of high school, while colleges were hosting virtual events during COVID. His family explored multiple options, but OLS stood out because it offered internships, on-campus living, and the chance to stay closer to home.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>However, the transition to campus during a quiet, post-pandemic year wasn\u2019t easy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>\u201cThere wasn\u2019t much to do on campus freshman year,\u201d Logan said with a laugh. \u201cI\u2019m a big people person, and I needed something else to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>That search for connection\u2014coupled with his career goal in sports management\u2014led him to reach out to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/\">BC Athletics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>In high school, Logan had been a team manager for the cross-country and track teams. He enjoyed the structure and sense of belonging it brought, and he decided to try to do it for Bellevue College.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>His approach was simple: he emailed every coach he could find.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>\u201cI introduced myself, explained what I was interested in, and asked if I could help,\u201d he said. \u201cThe soccer coach replied, then baseball, and then I met the basketball coach at a volleyball game.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"699\" height=\"979\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ols\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/450\/2025\/12\/OLS_Logan-and-Jamison.jpg\" alt=\"Logan Kassebaum hands a BC basketball player a water bottle over his shoulder.\" class=\"wp-image-5381\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ols\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/450\/2025\/12\/OLS_Logan-and-Jamison.jpg 699w, https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ols\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/450\/2025\/12\/OLS_Logan-and-Jamison-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/ols\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/450\/2025\/12\/OLS_Logan-and-Jamison-124x174.jpg 124w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 699px) 100vw, 699px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Logan hands Jamison Carlisle a water bottle during a photoshoot. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>By the end of that first year, Logan was officially part of BC Athletics. Today, he manages both Men\u2019s Basketball and Baseball and supports additional athletics events whenever an extra set of hands is needed, whether that\u2019s operating the livestream camera, running the scoreboard, managing equipment, or helping with game-day logistics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>Coaches say Logan\u2019s reliability and attitude have made him an essential part of their teams.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>\u201cLogan approaches his role with 100 percent effort and attention to detail,\u201d said David Olson, Co-Head Baseball Coach. \u201cHe\u2019s a great asset. He\u2019s not afraid to learn something new, and he pitches in wherever he\u2019s needed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>Head Basketball Coach Marcus Fermon concurs with Olson.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>\u201cLogan has become one of us,\u201d he said of Logan. \u201cHe helps with practice setup, equipment management, and a lot of behind-the-scenes work. He\u2019s eager to learn, upbeat, and a real supporter of all BC athletes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>Olson said he\u2019s seen significant growth in Logan\u2019s communication skills, noting that he\u2019s taken on more responsibilities as he\u2019s gained confidence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>\u201cHe consistently communicates schedules and completes tasks,\u201d Olson said. \u201cHe cares about doing things right.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>Logan credits the OLS program for helping him develop the skills he uses as a team manager. Communication, time management, reliability, and other workplace and interpersonal skills are embedded in the OLS curriculum, and students practice these skills in classroom and community activities so they can learn to apply them on the job. One course in particular has helped Logan with his role at BC Athletics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cCommunication in the Workplace has helped me learn how to talk professionally with players, coaches, and staff,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>He\u2019s also learned to stay organized, manage his time, and work effectively with a team of fellow student managers. One of the biggest personal shifts has been learning to share responsibilities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve gotten better at letting things go and passing tasks off to others,\u201d he said. \u201cWe work together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>That growth and confidence are especially meaningful to Logan because he wants to challenge stereotypes about people with disabilities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>\u201cI know people have assumptions about what we can or can\u2019t do,\u201d he said, \u201cbut my parents always told me not to let my disabilities be a roadblock.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>When asked about his favorite moments with BC Athletics, Logan says it\u2019s the community. The road trips to Bremerton, Edmonds, Everett, and Shoreline. The playoff trip to Pasco. While he doesn\u2019t graduate until 2027, he is already finding opportunities for his post-graduation future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve looked at what those jobs require,\u201d he said. \u201cA lot of it is experience, working with college teams. That\u2019s what I\u2019m building now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>For anyone hoping to get involved or explore leadership roles on campus, Logan\u2019s advice is simple.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>\u201cGet out of your comfort zone,\u201d he said. \u201cHave the willingness and drive to talk to someone and ask for something you want to do.
