Prepare yourself to become a valuable part of the medical team. Our program certificates fall into two general categories—administrative and clinical. Once a certificate has been completed, students have the opportunity to complete a few general education requirements to meet the 90-credit minimum and qualify for the Allied Health Associate degree.
The Radiation and Imaging Sciences program offers advanced education for individuals who have completed entry-level training in radiologic technology, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine technology, or diagnostic ultrasound. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography concentration includes 15 credits of additional didactic coursework in areas of ultrasound practice, as well as coursework in Healthcare Management and Leadership and Radiation and Imaging Sciences.
The health and physical education focus area will provide you with an in-depth knowledge of the human body with an emphasis in kinesiology and state-of-the-art techniques for improving fitness.
Students enrolled in the HPE Certificate programs develop strategies, skills and behaviors designed to promote wellness and improve the quality of life.
This program focuses on understanding healthcare data systems with an emphasis on process and data, user-center design thinking and statistics and predictive analytics. The topics include understanding healthcare data, workflow quality, change management, system operations and user centered design principles.
The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Healthcare Management and Leadership is designed to prepare individuals to successfully compete for jobs that require knowledge of the healthcare system and supervisory or management skills. Graduates in this concentration will be qualified as managers and administrators in hospitals, clinics and healthcare centers.
Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT) is a scientific field focused on recording and studying electrical activity of the brain and nervous system. Neurodiagnostic Technologists are trained professionals who specialize in studying and recording electrical activity. These technologists work one-on-one with patients in a healthcare setting, and often work in collaboration with other health professionals.
Nuclear medicine technology is a subspecialty within the medical field of radiology. It uses radioactive materials to trace physiologic functions, image various disease processes, and treat several types of disease. The field combines basic science, lots of patient interaction, and some really interesting ways to understand how patients’ diseases and ailments are affecting their bodies.
Registered nurses (RNs) assess and evaluate patient conditions, and then plan, implement, provide, and document patient care in a manner that follows professional nursing standards and outlined practices. RNs usually do all of this in conjunction with doctors, nursing assistants, and other healthcare professionals. RNs oftentimes have a specialty; common specialties include labor and delivery, oncology, critical care, medical-surgical, and much more. Most RNs work in state, local, or private hospitals.
Medical imaging consists of several different diagnostic imaging methods such as ultrasound and x-rays while radiation therapy utilizes ionizing radiation in the treatment and cure of cancer. Both professions use highly specialized equipment and require interpersonal communication skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Radiation therapy delivers a precise dose of radiation to aid in the cure of cancer and often involves daily treatments extending over several weeks. This treatment method uses highly sophisticated equipment and requires a great deal of initial planning as well as constant patient care and monitoring.
The field of Radiologic Technology will prepare you for a career in medical imaging and provide you with the technical and people skills to become a valued team member in patient care. Radiologic Technologists have opportunities to specialize in other scanning modalities.
