Purpose

The following procedures outline the process that students must follow to register for credit classes.

Procedures

Access to Registration

New Students

Prior to registering for credit classes, new students must be admitted to the college by completing the general admission application found on the admissions page of the Bellevue College website. New students may register at the start of open registration as posted on the academic calendar.

Former Students

Former students do not need to reapply for admission and may register at the start of open registration as posted on the academic calendar.

Continuing Students

Prior to the start of registration and as posted on the academic calendar, enrollment services sends registration information to continuing students, including the date and time at which students can begin to access the registration process. Assignment of registration date and time is based on the number of credits continuing students have on their transcript.

Open Registration

All students are encouraged to register for classes online by accessing the registration login page using the specified identification credentials. Students may also register in person at BC Student Central or contact student central for assistance with registration if needed.

Open registration continues through the first three days of the quarter (fall, winter, and spring) for classes with available seats (check the academic calendar for summer quarter dates). For classes that have reached capacity, students may request registration using the instructor permission process located on the registration webpage.

Payment of Tuition and Fees

A student’s registration is not complete until tuition and fees are paid. Tuition is based on a student’s Washington State residency status established at the time of admission to the college. Tuition deadlines apply and can be found on the academic calendar.

Running Start Students

Based on student eligibility, tuition is waived for Running Start students taking college level credits as approved by their district or high school. Some students may also qualify for a fee waiver. Running Start students who register for more than the credits approved by the district or high school, take below 100 level credits, or attend summer quarter are responsible for paying the full cost of tuition and fees based on their residency status established at the time of admission to the college.

Late Registration

After the third day of the quarter (fall, winter, and spring), students must register by using the instructor permission process located on the registration webpage.

Registration after the first week of the quarter (fall, winter, and spring) requires both instructor and division dean approval. The college charges a late fee for registering after the first week of the quarter.

Summer quarter, late start, and continuous enrollment classes have different deadlines. Check the academic calendar for specific dates related to late registration.

Dropping Classes

Students may drop their classes online using the registration login page through the seventh week of the quarter (fall, winter, and spring). Check the academic calendar for specific dates. Summer quarter has earlier drop deadlines. Instructor permission is not required to drop a class. Deadlines apply for students who expect to receive a refund. Check the academic calendar for refund deadlines.

Responsibilities

The Bellevue College Enrollment Services Office is responsible for implementing these procedures.
