{"id":1444,"date":"2016-06-09T07:59:55","date_gmt":"2016-06-09T14:59:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/policies\/?page_id=1444"},"modified":"2025-12-09T10:30:45","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T18:30:45","slug":"id-2950p-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/policies\/id-2950p-2\/","title":{"rendered":"2950P Faith or Conscience Accommodations (Procedures)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Original Date: 5\/17\/2016 * Last Revision Effective: 5\/12\/2025<br \/>\nPolicy Contact: Vice President Student Affairs<\/p>\n<h2>Purpose<\/h2>\n<p>The following procedures are established to meet the requirements for implementing policy <a title=\"2500 Accommodations for Students with Disabilities\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/policies\/id-2950\/\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">#2950 &#8211; Faith or Conscience Accommodations.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Procedures<\/h2>\n<p>To receive a religious accommodation for reasons of faith or conscience, students must complete a Request for Accommodation for Reasons of Faith or Conscience online form (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/services\/\">available on the Online Services for Students webpage<\/a>) within the first two weeks of a course and prior to the date the accommodation is needed.<\/p>\n<p>The vice president of student affairs or designee will coordinate with instructors on providing accommodations and notify students about details of the accommodations (approved absence or hardship dates; specific assignments, activities or exams that are impacted; details such as extending a deadline, allowing a make-up exam or allowing an alternate assignment or activity). Students may make-up exams in Placement &amp; Testing Services at the discretion of the instructor and at no charge to the student.<\/p>\n<h2>Appeal Process<\/h2>\n<p>If a student believes that the coordinated accommodations are insufficient, they may request a meeting with the vice president of student affairs or designee. If a resolution cannot be reached, students should use the procedures outline in 1440P, Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation.
