Family relationships shall not be used as a basis for hiring decisions except as outlined below.<\/p>\n<p>Bellevue College will not employ family\/household members in situations where any family\/household member will supervise, appoint, or discipline another family\/household member; where any family\/household member will evaluate the work of another family\/household member; or where the college determines that the working relationship will create a conflict of interest or the appearance of favoritism.<\/p>\n<p>Family\/household members shall not serve on screening committees, recommend employment of family\/household members, or serve in any capacity as a hearing officer, advisory committee member, or advocate in any situation involving a family\/household member.<\/p>\n<p>Supervisors are required to disclose to their dean\/vice president any relationship that violates or has the potential to violate this policy to ensure timely resolution.<\/p>\n<h2>Definitions<\/h2>\n<p>Family\/household member<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>includes: spouses, registered domestic partners, siblings, parents, children, grandparents, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws; as well as people living in the same household and their family members as listed above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Revision History<\/h2>\n<p>Original 1\/27\/2004<br \/>\nRevisions 5\/10\/2005; 5\/21\/2009; 4\/21\/2015; 5\/12\/2025<\/p>\n<h2>Approved By<\/h2>\n<p>Board of Trustees<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Original Date: 1\/27\/2004 * Last Revision Effective: 5\/12\/2025 Policy Contact: Vice President, Human Resources Policy Bellevue College seeks to employ qualified persons for all positions.
