Application Process

You may request to change your residency status by completing the Residence Questionnaire (PDF) and mailing it to the Bellevue College Residency Office.

  • Print and complete the Residence Questionnaire.  Be sure to fill out all sections, as this is a state mandated form. A signature is required on both side one and side two of the Residency Questionnaire if you are applying as an independent student.
  • Return the completed original Residence Questionnaire (we cannot accept a photocopy or a fax) to our office along with copies of supporting documentation. See Residency Requirements Form.  Drop in office hours are 10am – 4pm Tuesday  - Friday.

You will be responsible for paying your tuition if your application is not reviewed before the due date. You will be reimbursed the difference of the non-resident and resident tuition if you are approved after the tuition due date.

Attention: Students’ failure to disclose and submit complete and accurate information and all required documents may result in denial or reversal of the student’s resident classification.

Deadline

Completed Questionnaires along with all supporting documentation will be accepted up to the 30th calendar day of the quarter for which application is made. The deadline to submit residency documents for spring quarter 2014 is May 5, 2014.  Documentation received after the 30th day will be considered for the following quarter. Students are not refunded for previous quarters attended prior to application for change of resident status.

Notification Process

Upon receipt of the Residency Questionnaire and other pertinent documents, the Residency Office will review the application within 15 business days and notify students electronically. Note: Evaluation cannot be guaranteed for applications received within 15 days of the start of the quarter.

Note: Once the application and its contents have been submitted, it becomes the property of the Bellevue College and will not be returned to students. The college keeps the documentation in a high security vault for 7 years (for records and auditing purposes) and destroys the files after that time period. It is suggested students make copies for themselves in case they need it for future references.
