organizing<\/strong>&nbsp;around topics of local or global importance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask students to&nbsp;<strong>create a civic impact<\/strong>&nbsp;by commenting on public legislation, writing to \/ calling elected officials, attending virtual city council meetings, attending virtual community organizing meetings, etc. <a href=\"mailto:service-learning@bellevuecollege.edu\">Contact RISE<\/a>&nbsp;to discuss.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use platforms like&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/democracy.io\/\">Democracy.io<\/a>&nbsp;to enable students to&nbsp;<strong>write directly to their Senators and Representatives<\/strong>&nbsp;(being a citizen not required). Have students research and write to their local officials or media.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students can create \u2018<strong>position papers<\/strong>\u2018 on certain policies or campaigns. For example, Defunding Police: why or why not? People could organize a&nbsp;<strong>virtual debate<\/strong>&nbsp;and ask other students\/classes to attend.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create works of&nbsp;<strong>art as a form of protest<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icivics.org\/games\">Gamify<\/a>&nbsp;civics<\/strong>. Make learning about them more fun.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask students to attend virtual&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/citizenuniversity.us\/civic-saturday\/\">Civic Saturdays<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;and then reflect on the experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pick up&nbsp;<strong>neighborhood trash<\/strong>&nbsp;and post a video talking about why this matters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.studentsrebuild.org\/challenges\/changemaker\">Changemaker Challenge<\/a>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>using art to recognize those who contribute to their communities<\/strong>;
