RISE, an acronym for\u00a0Research<\/strong>,\u00a0Innovation<\/strong>,\u00a0Service<\/strong>, and\u00a0Experiential Learning<\/strong>, supports High Impact Practices (HIPs)\u00a0<\/strong>that have been shown to impact student learning and success. RISE focuses specifically on\u00a0Undergraduate Research, Project-Based Learning, Community-Engaged\/Civic Education, and Career Awareness.\u00a0Through a variety of approaches, RISE helps faculty integrate HIPs into their teaching.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Communities of Practice<\/a><\/h3>\n\t\t \n\n

RISE <\/strong>brings together groups of faculty who share a common interest or focus on specific educational approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Bellevue Undergraduate Research Group<\/strong>: is a multidisciplinary team of faculty engaged in course-based undergraduate research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Faculty Champions of PBL: <\/strong>Faculty members who advocate for Project-Based Learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Outside of BC, faculty interested in undergraduate research may also be interested in the Washington Consortium for Undergraduate Research and Equity’s (WA CURE’s) Community of Practice<\/a><\/strong>

RISE <\/strong>offers and supports HIP-related training and educational activities, including: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Project-Based Learning Workshops<\/strong>:<\/a> These workshops help faculty implement PBL into their curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Making Learning Visible (MLV)<\/strong>:<\/a>
The quarterly showcase of student work gives students the chance to share what they’ve learned that quarter with other students, faculty, and the public, practice public speaking skills, and learn about cool classes at Bellevue College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Student Research Presentations<\/a> <\/strong>
We coordinate BC\u2019s participation in the University of Washington\u2019s Undergraduate Research Symposium, the largest celebration of undergraduate research on the West Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n

Community-Engaged\/Civic Education (CECE)<\/a><\/h3>\n\t\t \n\n

RISE<\/strong> provides <\/strong>guidance, resources, and support in forming community partnerships, integrating Community-Engaged\/Civic Education (CECE) into courses, student activities, and student events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
