These practices go beyond traditional classroom lecture-and-test models by providing students with engaging, real-life, hands-on learning experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-button-group btn-group\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-button\"><a class=\"btn btn-primary   \" href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/rise\/research-on-high-impact-practices\/\" aria-disabled=\"false\">Research on High Impact Practices<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\">Characteristics of HIPs<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<p>The following characteristics help explain why High Impact Practices lead to greater student engagement and support students in achieving their goals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"block-wrapper alignstandard\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapsibles accordion\" id=\"accordion_dabe5493-d45e-4523-8f28-b7633e98ef71\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-collapse accordion-item\"><h3 class=\"accordion-header mb-0\" id=\"heading_d02efca2-7cec-4f5c-9889-c59160a4fad2\"><button class=\"accordion-button bg-default text-bg-default\n\t\t collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapse_d02efca2-7cec-4f5c-9889-c59160a4fad2\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_d02efca2-7cec-4f5c-9889-c59160a4fad2\">Periodic, structured opportunities to reflect and integrate learning<\/button><\/h3><div id=\"collapse_d02efca2-7cec-4f5c-9889-c59160a4fad2\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"heading_d02efca2-7cec-4f5c-9889-c59160a4fad2\" data-parent=\"#accordion_dabe5493-d45e-4523-8f28-b7633e98ef71\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion_dabe5493-d45e-4523-8f28-b7633e98ef71\"><div class=\"accordion-body bg-default text-bg-default\n\t\t\">\n<p>HIPs encourage students to reflect on their experiences and connect them to their values and beliefs.
