Summer Camp

Science Camp Banner

The situation regarding COVID-19 is changing almost daily. As of writing this message (March 12), Bellevue College has cancelled in-person classes, opting for all classes to go online. We anticipate being able to start our Spring 2020 quarter at the college, but we need to keep our operations responsive to the situation.

All K12 SAMI hands-on, minds-on programs (Science Summer Camp, Family Science, and Science Saturdays) are suspended until Bellevue College returns to normal operations. This includes registrations for Science Summer Camp.

These programs encourage medium-sized groups to come together during a public health crisis, which gives the COVID-19 virus to spread to new communities. As a former infectious disease researcher and current SAMI Director, I feel strongly that our office adhere to recommendations made by King County Public Health.

Postponing our registrations and programming allows us to be firm in our commitments to our community and responsive to the unprecedented public health issues at hand. We are looking forward to providing the high quality programming you have come to expect from us in the near future.

Please return to our website for updates on when registration will be opening for this and other SAMI programs.

Summer Camp Registration will open when Bellevue College resumes normal operation. See message above.

Thank you for your interest in Summer Camp at Bellevue College! We are getting everything ready for this summer’s programs and are planning some fantastic hands-on adventures.

Summer Camp will most likely run the week of August 17-21, 2020 on the campus of Bellevue College and the surrounding environs. Camp is for students entering 5th and 6th grade in the fall. We will have a  morning (9:00 AM-12:00 PM) and an afternoon (1:00-4:00 PM) session. Both sessions cover identical content.

Our 20th annual Science Summer Camp offers “hands-on, minds-on” experiences in a variety of scientific disciplines, which have included astronomy, biology, chemistry, math, and physics. Please note: each day of camp is a different “type” of science; Bellevue College Faculty and staff conduct all learning activities.

New for 2019: the Arts & Humanities Division will be running a concurrent Arts Summer Camp. Summer Arts Camp will allow students to create and perform in the literary, dramatic, musical, and fine arts with time spent in the theatre, art and dance studios, choral room…and outside. Activities include Sing Your Heart Out, Cool Basics/Hot Music, Playing with Fiction, Make Your Own Mask, and Create a Play.

You may register for each camp individually, or register for both the arts and science summer camps.  Each 1/2 day session is $300.00.
— A $100.00 deposit for each camp is due at the time of registration. Tuition must be paid in full by July 15, 2019. Financial assistance (partial scholarships) is available for those campers who qualify for free or reduced-price school lunches. Please note that refunds will not be issued in the event of your cancellation.
–Students registering for both science and arts camps will receive $100 off the total registration fee, for a total of $500 for both camps. During the one-hour break between camps, students registering for both camps will be able to bring their own lunch and sit in a supervised setting.

Your child’s registration will be considered complete when:
–submit the online registration form
–send in the 2019 Summer Camp Medical Form Liability Waiver and Photo Release
–send in $100 deposit OR $300 payment in full (cash or check made out to Bellevue College). If your child is participating in both the science and arts camps, please send in $200 deposit OR $500 payment in full (cash or check made out to Bellevue College).
