Harris has two children and when her children were young, she decided to leave the corporate world to teach part-time and consult part-time on smaller, more short-term projects. Harris taught for the first time back in high school as a math tutor but never planned to become a full-time instructor \u2013 back then she taught for activist reasons. Harris later discovered her passion for teaching, developing programs and courseware, and thinking about the state of education. Harris\u2019 formal educational background is in economics and instructional design, with degrees from two vastly different educational institutions, Western Governors University and the University of Chicago. Harris serves currently as the advisor to the TechBiz Club, a student club that has recruited speakers from industry to speak with students. Harris is the Program Chair for both the Business Management (BUS) and Business Analysis &amp; Technology programs (BUSIT, BATECH). While Program Chair, in Winter of 2023, Lisa Harris and her colleagues launched the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree in Business Management &amp; Technology (BMT), currently the top bachelor\u2019s degree at Bellevue College measured by student headcount and FTEs. Among Harris\u2019 many interests are artificial intelligence and its impact on social and economic structures.
