Sète
Sète, a small port city in the south of France, away from the touristy Côte d’Azur. With a population of about 40,000 people (compared to Redmond’s 42,000) it is safe, easy to find your way around in and perfect for discovering French life and culture. Your class will be taught in what is called “La Corniche”, a small neighborhood on the edge of town, where you will enjoy strolling through the streets, getting some fresh baguette at the only bakery in this part of town and having lunch at the beach like the locals do this time of the year.
Program Details:
You will have three hours of instruction each day for the week you are there while staying with a French speaking host family.
When not in class, you will experience a perfect immersion combined with exciting afternoon excursions to some of the charming medieval villages around Sète. The location has been personally vetted by your chaperone, Senior Associate Professor of French & German, Eva Norling.

Accommodations: While in Sète students are encouraged to interact with their host families as much as possible to facilitate learning the French language and culture. Furthermore, you are expected to respect the norms and customs of your hosts as you get to know them. Breakfast for the time you are in Sète as well as a warm meal will be included in your stay which will leave you responsible for one more meal a day.
Food is less expensive in France. For your convenience, there are two small supermarkets close to your classroom as well as a bakery with fresh bread throughout the day. It should be very easy to buy ingredients for a simple sandwich for lunch.
