Picture yourself walking through colorful neighborhoods, riding the iconic yellow trams, and studying at caf\u00e9s overlooking the Tagus River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lisbon, Portugal is known for its welcoming atmosphere, making it easy for international students to feel at home. For community college students, Lisbon offers a unique mix of academic opportunity and adventure and the city\u2019s mild climate means you can enjoy outdoor life and weekend trips to nearby beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Classroom Facilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Free WiFi is available throughout the student residence and the classrooms. Students will attend classes at the AIFS Study Center in central Lisbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Housing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will live in a shared apartment with other WCCCSA students. Typically, 4-6 WCCCSA students will share apartments with equipped kitchen, bathroom(s) and common space, located approximately 40-minutes travel time to the AIFS Study Center and classrooms. Linens and towels, weekly cleaning service, laundry facilities and free wireless internet are provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transportation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A Lisboa Navegante travel card is provided, granting unlimited travel on the metro, buses, trams and regional trains in the central zone of Lisbon for the duration of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Faculty &amp; Courses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Courses and faculty information is TBD. Students will register for three 5-credit courses at their home campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Portuguese Life and Culture course (5-credits): taught by local qualified professor focusing on historical, political, economic and cultural aspects of Lisbon and Portugal. (Local faculty will assign work and grades for the course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Independent Travel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You may use your free time on weekends &amp; holidays to explore the neighborhoods of Lisbon, travel throughout Portugal or beyond to some of Europe\u2019s great cities including London, Amsterdam, Rome, and Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Included in the cost<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Airport pick-up and transfer between LIS airport and program accommodation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accommodation in a shared, self-catered apartment (Includes: Free WiFi, linens &amp; towels, laundry facilities, weekly cleaning service)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>24-hour on-call service in Lisbon for duration of program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pre-departure orientation and Onsite Orientation in Lisbon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel Pass ((Lisboa Navegante) for unlimited travel on buses, trains and metro in central Lisbon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Welcome and Farewell meals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Half-day sightseeing walking tour of Lisbon with English-speaking guide<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comprehensive Health Insurance and 24\/7 emergency service<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A dedicated AIFS Program Coordinator to ensure smooth program experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free internet access and printing facilities in AIFS Student Center<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two full-day cultural excursions to Coimbra and Sintra, including transportation, professional English-speaking guide and AIFS escort<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Not included in the cost<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Round-trip Airfare and in-country transfers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>College tuition &amp; fees for 15-credits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Course books\/materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Passport &amp; visa fees, if applicable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meals not mentioned above<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal expenses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional excursions and fieldtrips not otherwise listed above<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anything not specified as included in the program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optional personal effects coverage and medical insurance upgrade<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Scholarships<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>WCCCSA Lisbon participants are eligible to apply for the $1,000&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/wcccsa.com\/funding\/wcccsa\">WCCCSA scholarship<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pre-Departure Orientation (Mandatory)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A team of WCCCSA Study Abroad Coordinators will provide details on logistics, health, and safety information to help you prepare for your study experience in Berlin. You are more than welcome to invite parents, guardians, or whomever you would like to attend the mandatory orientation with you.
