Finance & Travel

Looking for money or resources for your project? Come to us for help.

Browse the guidelines below to get started. If you have questions that are not answered here, you can visit the Finance Office (Room C212C).

Getting Funding

Do you need funds for an approved project or activity? Once you have completed your Project Plan and discussed your activity with our Events staff, there are two major funding options to consider:

  • Fundraising is a great way to finance your organization’s activity. Once you have raised funds on your own it will be more likely for you to receive additional funds from student government. You can raise funds in many ways — through auctions, donations, dues, charging admission to performances, bake sales, raffles, and more.  If you are ready to plan a fundraiser, visit Planning Fundraisers in our Events & Activities section.
  • Requesting S&A Funding:  S&A is shorthand for “Services and Activities Fees”. This fund is based on fees that come out of every student’s tuition for the purpose of supporting student initiatives. When a request is made for funding, the student government (ASG) decides how to allocate funds for the project and from which account. If you would like to request S&A funding, visit Submit a Funding Request in our Student Organizations section.

Making Purchases

Once you’ve obtained funding, you might purchase items or services with those funds. There are certain requirements for purchases for club/program activities. Learn about them on the Making Purchases page.

If you are considering any kind of rental — whether a tent, conference facility, a car, or something else — you’ll need to discuss your rental with our Finance staff first. Rentals are subject to liabilities and risks, and we need to ensure that risks are managed appropriately. Visit us in the Finance office in C212.

Does your student organization need to go to a conference or event off campus? Learn about our travel procedures on the Travel Requirements page.
