WEC builds power for the environmental movement in Washington. Washington Conservation Voters (WCV) is the statewide political voice for the environment. We work to elect environmentally responsible candidates to state and local offices. We advocate for strong environmental policies and we hold our elected officials accountable. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>WEC is offering two types of\u00a0Fall 2015 Internships. A Fall Communications Internship\u00a0and a Fall Field Internship. See below for more information on each.<\/p>\n<p>*** These internships may earn credit through EXPRL 191 and there are scholarships available through the Center for Career Connections.***<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>2015 Fall Communications Internship<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We are looking for an intern to provide communications support and research to our three person\u00a0communications team. This is a part-time, hands-on, fast-paced internship that will involve critical thinking, office work, and strong writing and communications skills. This is a great position for someone who is invested in protecting and restoring Washington\u2019s environment and excited to gain experience working in strategic communications on issues and political advocacy.<\/p>\n<p>Primary projects and responsibilities will include:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Tracking email metrics and assisting with testing email strategies to maximize engagement with<br \/>\nour members<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Supporting website redesign project and organizing historical documents<br \/>\n\u2022Conducting research past organizational successes<br \/>\n\u2022Preparing printed materials for advocacy events<\/p>\n<p>Desired qualifications:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Interest in Washington environmental policy or politics<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Strong writing and research skills<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Strong writing and communication skills<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; design skills a plus<br \/>\n\u2022 Independent self-starter<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to work well in fast-paced environments and multi-task<\/p>\n<p>Interns will have weekly staff supervision meetings, weekly training opportunities, and networking opportunities. Transportation reimbursements will be available. Interns are asked to commit 10-15 hours\/week for 10 weeks (Beginning of October-End of November). This is a great position for someone who is invested in protecting and restoring Washington\u2019s environment and excited to gain experience working on electoral and advocacy<br \/>\ncampaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Primary responsibilities will include:<br \/>\n\u2022 Recruit, train and mobilize activists to take action on WCV endorsed candidate campaigns and\/or<br \/>\nWEC<br \/>\nenvironmental and climate advocacy campaigns.<br \/>\n\u2022 Coordinate volunteer opportunities and outreach events with the public.<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist with online communication (Social media, event postings, etc.)<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintain and organize data in organizational databases<\/p>\n<p>Desired qualifications:<br \/>\n\u2022 Interest and experience in Washington environmental policy or politics<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong history of teamwork<br \/>\n\u2022 Independent self-starter<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong writing and research skills<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong interpersonal skills<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to multi-task<br \/>\n\u2022 Bilingual<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience in multicultural environments<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting for three positions. Interns will have weekly staff supervision meetings, weekly training opportunities, and networking opportunities.Transportation reimbursements will be available. Interns are asked to commit 10-15 hours\/week for 10 weeks (Beginning of October- End of November). Schedule will vary weekly based on our field opportunities.
