Walkers, bikers: ID imperfections with online mapping tool<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0BELLEVUE, Wash. <\/b>\u2013 The city\u2019s Transportation Department is asking the public to identify unsafe conditions or behaviors in Bellevue\u2019s walking and bicycling network. Information gathered through a \u201cwiki\u201d mapping survey will be used to address locations where problems occur. Participate in the survey<\/a>.<\/span><\/div>\n

The online survey, which will be available through Oct. 31, allows users to locate an area of concern on a map, describe and evaluate the issue using a menu of options, choose a potential\u00a0solution, make additional comments, and upload a photo of the location if desired.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
The information\u00a0will be used to design improvements. A broad cross-section of stakeholders and city staff will consider the input and develop action strategies to address locations and corridors where problems frequently occur. <\/span><\/div>\n

Mapping where people notice hazardous conditions or behavior is just\u00a0one of the tasks identified in Bellevue\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Pedestrian and Bicycle Implementation Initiative<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

The survey tool is meant to help transportation staff design facilities, develop education programs, and deploy enforcement activities to address safety issues.\u00a0I<\/span>t is not intended to replace the city\u2019s MyBellevue<\/a> mobile app and portal, which is used to report maintenance issues such as potholes, and to request\u00a0services. <\/span><\/div>\n
