Indigenous Leaders in the Climate Justice Movement Panel<\/td>The recent #NODAPL struggle brought broad attention in mainstream settler society of the leadership of Indigenous water protectors in the struggle against extractive industries.
\n
\nHowever, Indigenous nations have historically been front and center in the Climate Justice Movement and they will continue to be a significant force in the movement, especially in the Pacific Northwest.
\n
\nThis panel will feature Native American and First Nations speakers talking about their work in the Climate Justice Movement in the region.
\n
\n The panel will feature Matt Remle, Kayah George, and Dakota Case. Named one of 2017's Most Influential Seattleites by Seattle Magazine, Matt Remle is a leader in the campaign to push Seattle to divest from Wells Fargo. Kayah George is a scholar and activist and she is a leader in the fight against Kinder Morgan's Transmountain Pipeline expansion.

Coral Reef Restoration: A Road to Resilience<\/td>The Nature Conservancy's Emmanuel Irizarry-Soto to speak about his work on coral restoration in the Caribbean.

\nCoral reefs are one of the most important marine ecosystems in the tropics. Countries and islands benefit from their aesthetic, nutrition, well health and protectiveness from atmospheric phenomenon such as swells and hurricanes.
\n
\nReefs develop under complex but fragile factors that have been altered by the abusive use of our natural resources. The rise in the planet's temperature, the rise in CO2, combined with our increase in ocean pollution, have created factors that impact coral reefs ecosystems.
\n
\nCorals are one of the most important groups building the reef structures, and their numbers are decreasing up to the point of being threatened. It is crucial to learn and master coral restoration processes to support coral population resilience in the nearby future. <\/td>		1:30 pm to 2:20 pm
