Near 148th Ave SE, the swale is susceptible to tire and road wear particle runoff.

A 2021 study showed that these particles are fatal for coho salmon when they enter our waterways. That’s why last year, the Office of Sustainability collaborated with Bellevue College Grounds crew to install Compost BURritos which filter out harmful contaminants. Our long term stormwater management plans also contributed to campus being certified as Salmon-Safe.

Learn more about these efforts here!
