{"id":6024,"date":"2013-08-12T13:48:19","date_gmt":"2013-08-12T20:48:19","guid":{"rendered":"\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/sustainability\/?p=6024"},"modified":"2014-01-14T12:47:47","modified_gmt":"2014-01-14T20:47:47","slug":"employee-commute-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/sustainability\/2013\/08\/12\/employee-commute-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee Commute Survey: VMT Down &#8211; SOV Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2013\/08\/metro.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5999 img-fluid \" alt=\"Metro bus at a bus stop\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2013\/08\/metro-150x150.gif\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2013\/08\/metro-150x150.gif 150w, https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2013\/08\/metro-100x100.gif 100w, https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2013\/08\/metro-55x55.gif 55w, https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2013\/08\/metro-45x45.gif 45w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The latest Commute Trip\u00a0Reduction (CTR) Survey, which is a requirement of Washington State&#8217;s\u00a0CTR Law for employers over 50 people like Bellevue College, showed the drive alone rate creeping up for affected full-time, day\u00a0employees\u00a0and the\u00a0miles vehicles\u00a0traveled\u00a0declining slightly.\u00a0 The CTR survey reflects just around 330 mostly staff and administrators\u00a0of the more than 1,400 Bellevue College employees.<\/p>\n<p>The impact of the latest survey\u00a0shows slightly lower GHG Emissions among employees surveyed from 680 MT CO2e per roundtrip commute in 2007-2009 to 575 in 2011-2012 to 506 in 2013-2014.<\/p>\n<p>The drive alone rate among those surveyed in 2013-2014 was 70.08% compared to 73.3% in 2007-2008 and 66.9% in 2011-2012, which reflects a\u00a07% drop after small parking\u00a0fees were implemented and a slight increase after employees adjusted for the parking fees\u00a0this past year.\u00a0 The drop among the total employee population after parking fees was larger, over 10% (see <a href=\"\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/sustainability\/2012\/11\/26\/almost-50-of-commute-days-not-driven-alone\/\">fall 2012 indicators<\/a>).\u00a0 The top reason employees cited for not driving to work was to save money and the top reason to drive alone was the (real or perceived) inconvenience or time of taking the bus.\u00a0 The percent of these employees taking the bus and carpooling was close to equal at about\u00a012%.<\/p>\n<p>Vehicle miles have dropped\u00a0one mile since 2007-2008, down to 10.5 miles\u00a0on average.\u00a0 Bus passenger miles have steadily increased from 194,000 in 2007-2008 to 208,900 in 2013-2014.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest Commute Trip\u00a0Reduction (CTR) Survey, which is a requirement of Washington State's\u00a0CTR Law for employers over 50 people like Bellevue College, showed the drive alone rate creeping up for affected full-time, day\u00a0employees\u00a0and the\u00a0miles vehicles\u00a0traveled\u00a0declining slightly.\u00a0 The CTR survey reflects just around 330 mostly staff and administrators\u00a0of the more than 1,400 Bellevue College employees.
