Shifting the culture and campus social norms from the paper based student evaluations to a paperless system is no easy task.\u00a0 There are certainly significant\u00a0barriers like achieving a high return from students and maintaining \u00a0the integrity of the data for our tenure candidates.<\/p>\n
But could there be a better model that benefits all?\u00a0 I think so but it won’t be without some experimentation, some failures and some lessons learned.<\/p>\n
To make the shift, \u00a0the campus and instructors will need to provide wider access and transparency to the online evaluations.\u00a0\u00a0The open window of time that students have to access the\u00a0student evaluations will need to be\u00a0 integrated with processes on campus, in syllabus and in the classroom.\u00a0 New students will need basic computer skills, orientation\u00a0and help getting started.\u00a0 Students\u00a0may also need\u00a0incentive and motivation to\u00a0complete them.<\/p>\n
