directed by Tammi Doyle
Performances: March 7-10, 2018 | 7:30 pm, Carlson Theatre
The Theatre Arts Department is collaborating with the Bellevue College Dance Company to present a modern adaptation of Antigone. The show will be performed without an intermission.
⇒ PLEASE NOTE: Thursday, March 8 – ASL Interpreted Performance ⇐
A modern look at an all too timeless story of rebellion, ruling and responsibility as one young woman defies the state and risks certain death when she decides to honor her fallen brother against the edict of her uncle/king. Meet the cast and production staff.
EXTRA EVENT: Join us for Theatre Arts LOBBY TALK before the performance on Thursday, March 8.
6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Carlson Theatre Lobby
Zoe Aleshire (Philosophy), Clifford Cawthon (Political Science), Kim Pollock (Cultural and Ethic Studies), and Mark Storey (Philosophy), will discuss Antigone’s decision to follow her conscience rather than the law set down by Creon, the king.
Antigone and Creon are both right and both wrong. Neither will listen nor yield. How do we decide to challenge authority, and when is it more responsible to submit?
