{"id":4475,"date":"2021-02-01T11:02:57","date_gmt":"2021-02-01T19:02:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/theatrearts\/?page_id=4475"},"modified":"2021-02-01T11:50:06","modified_gmt":"2021-02-01T19:50:06","slug":"safehouse-audition","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/theatrearts\/safehouse-audition\/","title":{"rendered":"SafeHouse Audition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Winter Show Audition Announcement:\u00a0<em>SafeHouse\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>All BC students are invited to Audition for the Winter Quarter 2021 Theatre Arts Drama production:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>SafeHouse<\/em>: an original play constructed by the Cast.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auditions will be online-in-person the week of Nov. 16-20&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If interested email Tammi Doyle at\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"mailto:tammi.doyle@bellevuecollege.edu\" target=\"_blank\">tammi.doyle@bellevuecollege.edu<\/a>\u00a0to set up an audition time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Audition Requirements:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A 1-2 minute memorized monologue from a published play\u00a0\u00a0AND\u00a0A writing sample which can be an original play, short story, poem or song.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>All actors cast will have to register for Drama 280 for 5 credits\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>SafeHouse&nbsp;<\/em>will be performed by a cast of 8-12 actors who will each play one- two roles.&nbsp;&nbsp;The show will be rehearsed and recorded online. Each student will write two-three monologues for themselves with guidance from the director. There will also be a group opening, closing and a scene or two for each character. Characters will talk across the boundaries of time and space. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>SafeHouse<\/em>&nbsp;is about HIDING.&nbsp;&nbsp;Now we are separate to stay safe from Covid 19, but there have been many times in history when individuals had to hide to remain or become free. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Each actor will create a character from the past, present or possibly the future who has been compelled to hide.&nbsp;&nbsp;And at the end of that hiding will be freedom and light or darkness and death. Questions to explore: Who To Trust? When to Hide? When to Come Out? &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Song\/Music and Dance are welcome!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone is encouraged to audition.&nbsp;&nbsp;Below are some character\/story ideas we will explore.&nbsp;&nbsp;I will consider all ideas from each actor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Healer persecuted as a witch in colonial America (16<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;c.)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Native American hiding from colonists or traders (17<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;c.)&nbsp;<\/li><li>African hiding from slave traders (18<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;c.)&nbsp;<\/li><li>African American on the Underground Railroad (19<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;c.)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Native American fleeing from US Calvary (19<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;c.)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Japanese\/Japanese American rounded up for internment (20<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;c.)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Jew hunted by Nazis (20<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;c.)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Pregnant woman waiting for help to a state in which she can get an abortion (1960\u2019s)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Young man heading to Canada because he was drafted to fight in Vietnam (1970\u2019s)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Mexican\/Lantinx hiding from Immigration (present)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Woman or Man hiding from an abusive partner (20<sup>th&nbsp;<\/sup>c. and 21<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;c.)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Young person hiding from abusive parents due to being gay\/trans (20<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;c. and 21<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;c.) &nbsp;<\/li><li>Person fleeing religious persecution.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Hounded and bullied disabled person (physically, mentally, emotionally) &nbsp;<\/li><li>Woman waiting to give birth to what will be a child in danger&nbsp;<\/li><li>Interracial couple waiting to meet and marry or because they married and were discovered&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Winter Show Audition Announcement:\u00a0SafeHouse\u00a0 All BC students are invited to Audition for the Winter Quarter 2021 Theatre Arts Drama production: SafeHouse: an original play constructed by the Cast.\u00a0 Auditions will be online-in-person the week of Nov. 16-20&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; If interested email Tammi Doyle at\u00a0tammi.doyle@bellevuecollege.edu\u00a0to set up an audition time.
