Professor Stella Orechia has been teaching health and fitness courses at Bellevue College for over 20 years. She has a Master’s degree from San Francisco State University in Physical Education (focus in Sport Psychology). Stella is also a certified instructor for the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. She provides workplace safety training for three programs, Personal Fitness Training certificate program, Allied Health Education and Health & Wellness BAS degree.
After her fifteenth year at Bellevue College, Stella completed a 2000 mile, Cycling for Refugees sabbatical project to benefit Burmese refugees in the Pacific Northwest. More recently, she was inducted into the athletic Hall of Fame at her former College of San Mateo for athletic achievements in track and field. Locally, Stella serves on an exhibit committee for the Seattle Wing Luke Museum. In December 2019, the museum will feature an exhibit showcasing the culture and oral histories of Burmese immigrants and refugees in the Pacific Northwest.
