More than 2,500 employers in Washington State currently utilize these programs. <strong>These programs generally pay 40-70% percent of your Work-Study employees\u2019 wages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the Work-Study programs allow employers to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Save money while meeting part-time staffing needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hire bright college students who can bring cutting-edge skills and new ideas to your organization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preview new talent. When their best Work-Study students graduate, many employers convert them to full-time employees, thus saving on recruiting, hiring, and training costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The State and Federal Work-Study programs recognize that participants are students first and employees second. Specifically, both programs require that Work-Study students:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Work no more than their award amounts allow (approximately 15 hours a week)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not work at the same time as they have a class. Students must provide their class schedule to employers, and employers have an obligation to avoid scheduling conflicts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>To become an off-campus work study employer, please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/wsac.wa.gov\/employers\">WSAC Employer Handbook <\/a>and follow the guidelines. Indicate that you would like to hire Bellevue College students in your application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mayflower-blocks-button\"><a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-block  \" href=\"https:\/\/wsac.wa.gov\/employers\" aria-disabled=\"false\">WSAC Employer Handbook<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong> The job must meet the following guidelines:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Work-Study position cannot be a replacement for a regular employee.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student must be paid a comparable wage to your other employees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student can never work more than 19 hours per week while classes are in session.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Preferred placements are in jobs related to the student\u2019s field of study, but this is a recommendation rather than a requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The State and Federal Work-Study programs are fantastic resources for employers.
