{"id":1524,"date":"2023-02-06T09:18:04","date_gmt":"2023-02-06T17:18:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/worldlanguages\/?post_type=staff&#038;p=1524"},"modified":"2023-06-21T11:59:08","modified_gmt":"2023-06-21T18:59:08","slug":"valentino-vasquez","status":"publish","type":"staff","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/worldlanguages\/staff\/valentino-vasquez\/","title":{"rendered":"Valentino Vasquez"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Valentino grew up with Spanish-speaking families and his grandparents were from&nbsp;Mexico.&nbsp;&nbsp;He used Mexican gestures to communicate with existing families and was&nbsp;educated in a mainstreaming school that had a program for hard of hearing and&nbsp;deaf students.&nbsp; He&nbsp;learned to speak English and used Seeing Essential English during&nbsp;school years until he attended Gallaudet College in Washington, D.C. where he&nbsp;learned ASL and Deaf Culture.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He received his M.A. degree in Deaf Education at University of Northern Colorado&nbsp;and worked with deaf and hard of hearing in K-12 schools in Nebraska and&nbsp;Colorado from 1998 to 2004.&nbsp;&nbsp;He has taught ASL and Deaf Culture since 1998 for&nbsp;high school and college students, interpreters, K-12 teachers and parents with&nbsp;children who are deaf and hard of hearing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He enjoys attending Deaf community events and is involved in Teaching and Learning ASL&nbsp;workshops through state and national organizations for ASL instructors.&nbsp;His&nbsp;favorite activities with his family are outdoor adventures and traveling.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2805,"featured_media":1671,"parent":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-1524","staff","type-staff","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/worldlanguages\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/staff\/1524","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/worldlanguages\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/staff"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/worldlanguages\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/staff"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/worldlanguages\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2805"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/worldlanguages\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/staff\/1524\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1670,"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/worldlanguages\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/staff\/1524\/revisions\/1670"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/worldlanguages\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1671"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/worldlanguages\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1524"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
