Purpose
The following procedures are established to implement policy #1360 – Survey Management.
Procedures
Faculty, staff, and students who seek to distribute a major survey must submit it to effectiveness and research (E&R) using the BC Survey Request form, which will require the following:
- Contact person and email address;
- Survey name and purpose;
- Questions and format;
- Intended population;
- Timeline; and
- Additional information such as whether the survey will be conducted anonymously or confidentially.
E&R staff will review the form to ensure that the survey is constructed in a manner consistent with best practices in survey research; they may request additional information or recommend revisions before approval. The request to distribute a survey should be submitted at least two (2) weeks prior to the distribution date for surveys needing review and at least two (2) days prior to the distribution date for new implementations of previously reviewed surveys.
As a resource for college data collection, E&R will document the name, purpose, intended population, and timeline of the survey on the E&R SharePoint site.
Questions about whether a survey is covered by this policy and associated procedures should be directed to E&R staff.
