Purpose

Bellevue College allows the use of cellular telephones for business-related calls. The following are the procedures for the use of and reimbursement for cellular phones which are required for the purpose of conducting college business.

Procedures

For BC employees whose position requires them to be available outside of normal business hours and in varying locations (such as emergency responders), a stipend may be provided as a reimbursement for business use of personal cell phones upon recommendation by the area vice president and with the approval of the vice president of administrative services or president. The stipend will be processed by payroll and will follow established IRS tax guidelines. Exceptions may be granted for special circumstances or as an accommodation for a documented disability.

The cellular phones and related equipment must be purchased and owned by the employee; such equipment costs are not reimbursable. Bellevue College will not be liable for the loss of personal cellular phones brought into the workplace.
