Now Hiring – Childcare Audit Filer

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Conduct an environmental audit of the Bellevue College Early Learning Center. During recent years studies have shown that children are exposed to environmental toxins in the food, toys, bedrooms, bathroom and schoolrooms. And many of these toxic chemical affect learning and IQ, especially during the developmental stages. In addition, safe alternatives exist it to many of these material and could easily replace many of the toxins children are explored to (if you know what to look for).

This project will help make BC’s childcare center a model of environmental responsibility and create an environment that is safe for our children. The intern will audit and provide recommendations using the “Go Green Rating Scale for Early Childhood Settings Handbook.” This project is anticipated at approximately 75 hours at 10-15 hours per week and will start this quarter.

Requirements: 

  •  Self-starter with ability to achieve goals working independently 
  •  Experience or demonstrated interest in environmental responsibility
  • Strong communications skills • Available to meet weekly with supervisor
  • Commitment to building a sustainable community at Bellevue College
  • Childcare Center specific requirements o Negative TB test (volunteer covers own cost)
  • A state criminal record background check (ELC covers this cost).
