On Demand HVAC

In 2008 Bellevue College took a giant leap in energy conservation by implementing schedules for our heating, ventilation and air conditioning that matched building occupancy in an initiative by Controls Technician Robert (Bob) Herbruger.  At the beginning of each quarter Bob programs the HVAC system to match the course schedule and daily he review the events schedule to match sure we’re only using natural gas and electricity to condition spaces when people are using them.

Now Bob has taken this project to the next level by implementing on-demand in locations with unpredictable schedules like the 24hour interior design labs, science computer room and potentially drama spaces.  This will reduce operating hours and thus energy consumption in this unpredictable areas.

Pushing and holding the bottom (small) button on the sensor for 2 to 3 seconds will turn on HVAC in the room for 120 minutes.
