On April 23, 2012 the Bellevue City Council accepted the Eastgate/I-90 Land Use and Transportation Study. Using a planning horizon of Year 2030, the Citizens Advisory Council, which included Bellevue College’s former VP of Administrative Services, Rachel Solemsaas, undertook a planning process that extended from November 2010 to April 2012.
The plan outlines a bold vision for Bellevue College’s neighborhood including a Transit Oriented Development between our southern border and I-90 as depicted below (click to enlarge):
Improvements called for in the plan include:
- New bus stops and a wider, covered sidewalk leading from the I-90 flyover stops to Main Campus going east and west (depicted below)
- Completion of the missing link in the Mountains to Sound Greenway and connection to Main Campus (map below)
- Bus route revisions
The Eastgate/I-90 Land Use and Transportation Project is a long-range vision that may take many years to realize and may change over time. Major steps include revisions to the City of Bellevue land-use and transportation plans and codes and identifying private investors and public resources for projects.
