Bellevue College has been offered free student tickets to Bill McKibben’s Do the Math Tour kicking off Nov. 7th 2012. It’s simple math: we can burn 565 more gigatons of carbon and stay below 2C of warming – anything more than that risks catastrophe for life on earth. The only problem? Fossil fuel corporations now have 2,795 gigtatons in there reserves, five times the safe amount. McKibben is the author of the 2012-13 BC Reads Book Deep Economy.
Each event will be a unique and interactive experience, unlike any talk you’ve been to before, full evening of music, interactive video, and thought-provoking ideas. It will pick up where Bill McKibben’s landmark Rolling Stone article left off — and everyone who comes will be asked to join a growing movement that is strong enough to stand up to the fossil fuel industry.
