All ages are welcome; however, this class is geared towards adults and children over seven.  You may attend one or all these free classes. Check the KCLS virtual calendar (www.KCLS.org/events) or City of Bellevue’s webpage (www.bellevuewa.gov/greener-living-classes) for more information. Below are August dates, however we will continue to add more dates/times. If you are interested in being notified by email when new dates are added, please email recycle@bellevuewa.gov

This workshop will also cover how to make smart choices when purchasing cleaning products and how to disinfect when needed. We will discuss safe use, storage, and disposal of purchased cleaning products to protect our families and environmental health. All participants will receive a PDF of recipes for making additional non-toxic cleaners at home, proper disposal guidelines, and more.
  • Reduce Wasted Food: Tuesday August 11, 5:00-5:45PM Watch hands-on examples of how to make the most of your food at home including how to store foods for maximum freshness, what labels on food containers mean, how to turn leftovers into lunch, and more. All participants will receive electronic resources such as recipes using unusual parts of food (i.e. carrot tops), a storage guide for ways to store fruits and vegetables to make them last longer, and information on what can go in your compost bin in Bellevue.
  • Become a Super Sorter- Proper Disposal and Handling of Unwanted Items: Tuesday August 18, 5:00-5:45PM  Are you unsure what items belong in your garbage, recycle, or compost, or what may need special handling? This class will cover City of Bellevue waste sorting at home, as well as items that are prohibited from garbage and how to handle them. Also find out where your items go after they leave your home. We will share the best ways to get rid of items you no longer want including tips for reuse, donation, and safe disposal. Participants will learn how to safely dispose of common household waste items, bulky items, hazardous materials, electronics, and medicines. All are welcome to this class; however, it will specifically cover Bellevue.
