Do you want to have a positive impact, work on real-word social and environmental issues, and gain tangible skills for your resume?

The Office of Sustainability works on tracking and reducing BC’s greenhouse gas emissions, conserving natural resources, engaging and educating campus, and incorporating sustainability into the college’s culture and curriculum.

The Office of Sustainability has two student positions available!

  • The Transportation Coordinator: Helps promote, plan events, and provide resources for biking, busing, carpooling, and other modes of alternative transportation.
  • The Sustainability Outreach Coordinator: Acts as the primary liaison between students and the opportunities and resources offered by the Office of Sustainability while creating engaging programs and initiatives to foster a sustainability oriented mindset on campus.

Both these positions work on a wide range of exciting projects to engage campus and lower BC’s environmental impacts.

Required for both jobs!

  • Minimum 2.7 cumulative BC college-level GPA at the time of application for the previous consecutive quarters and maintain 2.7 GPA throughout employment term (If you are a new student or have other extenuating circumstances, please contact us to discuss).
  • Must be registered for a minimum of (6) BC Credits during Winter and Spring quarters.

Sustainability Outreach Coordinator

Position Summary:

An integral part of BC’s Office of Sustainability, the Sustainability Outreach Coordinator acts as an ambassador to the BC community to introduce sustainable opportunities and initiatives as well as helping foster a sustainability-oriented campus mindset. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of sustainability projects, that include but are not limited to event planning, report creating, classroom talks, and communicating with staff, faculty, and students. We are looking for a well-rounded student who is interested in sustainability and climate justice, and is willing to learn on the job.

You will be joining a team of two full time employees, a part time employee, and another student employee. The team works very closely throughout the year and collaborates on projects. This position will be required to work in-person for most hours, but there will be some flexibility for telework.

Skills are relatable to any field and will enhance your resume when applying for jobs after graduation, or further studies. Students in this position have gone on to full-time employment or study at UW.

Transportation Coordinator

Position Summary:

An integral part of BC’s Office of Sustainability, the Transportation Coordinator acts as an ambassador to the BC community to introduce sustainable transportation options and methods. Whether it’s helping another student find a bus route to and from campus, or creating new programs like our bike rental program, the Transportation Coordinator plays an important role in reducing Bellevue College’s greenhouse gas emissions associated with driving to campus.

You will be joining a team of two full time employees, one part-time employee, and one other student employee. The team works very closely throughout the year and collaborates on projects, so you won’t be limited to working on only transportation projects. This position is unique in that it is stationed at the Transportation Desk across from PALS Center and has an awesome window for you to interact with students that come by. The position is designed to function as the customer facing presence of the Office of Sustainability and act as the primary liaison between students and the transportation opportunities and resources offered by the Office of Sustainability.
