This spring, the Office of Sustainability is bringing a small group of students to WOHESC, an annual climate change and sustainability conference. We are excited to continue to offer this opportunity thanks to SESF funding!
What’s WOHESC? The Washington Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference. This 3-day event brings together students, faculty, activists, and sustainability leaders from around the world. In 2025, WOHESC will be held at Portland Community College from March 5-7 with the theme Cultivating Sustainable Communities, and will explore how we can create resilient, conscious community in the environmental movement. Engage in tours, speakers, panel discussions, and workshops on topics like Indigenous teachings, campus decarbonization, community building, and managing climate stress.
Does this interest you? Apply now to join us! All students, regardless of your major or field of study, are encouraged to apply. This trip is all-expenses-paid including travel, lodging, meals, and conference pass.
What’s the experience like? Having attended WOHESC 2024, I can personally say it’s an inspiring and invigorating experience that will leave you with a greater sense of purpose and new connections with people who share your interests. The energy at WOHESC is palpable. You will get to know fellow Bellevue College students, eat great food, and choose what sessions interest you. We split apart during the conference and meet up for meals together. To get to Portland and back, we will take the Amtrak Cascades line.
Applications are now closed. If you weren’t able to apply and still wish to attend, you can purchase a ticket at WOHESC.org using our discount code (BC30) for 30% off.
Spaces are limited, so apply when you can! Applications are due by January 31, 2025. Please note, due to a high volume of applications, the original deadline of Feb 7 has been moved sooner. For questions, please email sustainoutreach@bellevuecollege.edu.
