Earlier this month was the annual conference for AASHE, The Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, in Nashville, Tennessee. This is the association that also accredits Bellevue College (and many other campuses) with a sustainability rating system, of which we were awarded the second highest rating… STARS Silver.
The annual convention showcased a number of individuals and campuses that were nominated for their research, projects or programs that advance sustainability on their campuses and beyond. Some of the finalists included Stanford for their climate plan, University of Iowa for their renewable energy plan, University of California – Santa Barbara for their water action plan, and University of Minnesota for their Environmental Leaders Policy.
Another important resource that AASHE holds is the educational component they provide through conferences, workshops and webinars. The AASHE website holds a wealth of information on what campuses and individuals are doing in sustainability, including the records on Sustainability at Bellevue College.
Some of the upcoming informative webinars from AASHE to watch in October are…
