Food Service Initiatives

Page under construction 🙂

The Bellevue College Food Services department collaborates with many offices, departments, and vendors on and off campus to implement sustainability projects and offer food that is locally grown, and has the least impact on our environment. Below are some of the initiatives that the Bellevue College Food Services does to further sustainability. For more information on Food Services, please visit their website.

Composting & Coffee Grounds

Food Services staff in the kitchen compost all food waste, including scraps from food preperation and discarded food. The kitchen compost is sent to Cedar Grove Organics.

Coffee Grounds are collected separately and used by the BC Grounds Crew as a part of an on-campus composting initiative.

Leanpath

New for 2021!

The C Building cafeteria will be using the Leanpath 360, which is food waste tracking terminal that includes a built-in scale, camera, and touchscreen user interface.

This piece of equipment will allow Food Service staff to better understand food waste and areas for increased efficiency in food prep. It will also provide data on any food not eaten at the end of the day, which can help with decisions on types of food served.
