Battery Recycling

Bellevue College’s battery recycling program allows offices and departments to responsibly dispose of all types of batteries.

Why batteries can’t go in the garbage

Batteries cannot be disposed of in the garbage because they contain corrosive acids and toxic materials. As batteries corrode in landfills, their chemical contents leach into the soil and groundwater, contaminating the environment and exposing animals, plants, and humans.

Who can recycle batteries at BC?

Currently, offices and departments can participate in the recycling program, but campus wide battery collection bins are coming soon and will be available for students, faculty, and staff to bring in batteries from home.

Where can my office/department dispose of used batteries?

If your office/department has a large quantity of batteries to recycle, please put in a request center ticket to coordinate proper disposal with the warehouse.
