Areas of Current Focus

Ongoing work aligned with Achieving the Dream priorities

Bellevue College’s Advising Redesign work is part of the College’s Achieving the Dream initiatives and focuses on improving the clarity, consistency, and effectiveness of advising across the institution.

The workgroup examines current advising structures, identifies gaps in student support, and develops strategies to strengthen the advising experience for all students. This work includes aligning advising practices with Guided Pathways principles, improving communication across academic and student support areas, and ensuring students receive timely, coordinated guidance throughout their academic journey.

The Faculty Professional Development Workgroup supports Bellevue College’s ATD efforts by identifying, coordinating, and expanding professional development opportunities that strengthen teaching, learning, and equity-focused practices.

This group works to align professional development resources with institutional goals, enhance faculty engagement, and deepen support for evidence-based and inclusive teaching strategies that improve student learning and success.

Bellevue College’s Math Redesign Workgroup focuses on improving student success and equity in foundational and pathway math courses. The group examines placement practices, course sequences, learning outcomes, and support structures to ensure students enroll in the right math course at the right time.

This work supports Achieving the Dream’s emphasis on eliminating barriers, strengthening academic pathways, and improving outcomes for first-year and returning students.

The Modality Optimization Workgroup supports Bellevue College’s ATD initiatives by examining how instructional modalities—including in-person, hybrid, HyFlex, and fully online—impact student learning, engagement, and success.

The group develops recommendations for optimal modality mixes across programs, improves clarity for students when choosing courses, and identifies the support faculty and staff need to deliver high-quality learning experiences across all modalities.
