Employment Outlook

The employment outlook for computer and information technology in 2026 is recovering and growing at a projected 1.9% to 2.2% net expansion. Long-term projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate growth much faster than average, driven by specialization in high-demand sectors.

The median annual wage for computer and information technology occupations is $105,990, significantly higher than the median for all occupations. The employment outlook is strong, projected to grow much faster than the average for all fields.

Preparing for what comes after graduation starts well before your final quarter. Throughout the BSCS program, students have opportunities to build experience, make professional connections, and develop career-ready skills through activities such as:

  • Senior capstone projects – Apply technical skills to a real-world project while gaining experience with collaborative development and team workflows.
  • Internships for academic credit – Pair a qualifying internship with coursework to earn credit toward your degree.
  • Hackathons and micro-internships – Gain hands-on experience solving problems, working in teams, and applying technical skills.
  • Industry mentorship – Connect with experienced professionals and gain insight into navigating the technology industry.
  • Mock interviews – Practice communicating your skills, accomplishments, and problem-solving approach.
  • Tech events and workshops – Explore emerging technologies, hear from industry professionals, and build your network.
  • Faculty advising – Meet one-on-one with CS faculty for guidance on your goals, professional growth, and next steps.

Students also have access to Bellevue College’s Center for Career Connections (CCC) for individualized career and job-search support. Career Advisors can help students explore career options, strengthen resumes and LinkedIn profiles, practice interviewing, and develop networking and job-search strategies. All Bellevue College students also have access to Handshake, where they can search for jobs, internships, and other career opportunities.
