CSTA Washington Updates

Every year, the Code.org Advocacy Coalition, Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), and the Expanding Computer Science Pathways (ECEP) Alliance publishes the State of Computer Science Education report. This presentation looks at what the 2024 report says about Washington from both the data and policy perspectives, how K-12 Washington compares nationally, and provides nuances and additional details from those of us in Washington working on K-12 computer science education data and policy. 

Lawrence Tanimoto 

is the Treasurer/Advocacy Lead of CSTA Washington.   Although now retired, Lawrence advocates for K-12 computer science education in several roles.  From 2014-2021, Lawrence taught computer science at Ingraham High School, a large, public, multicultural high school in north Seattle.   Before teaching, Lawrence worked for over 28 years in the international computer industry, the last 18 years with Microsoft
