ABOUT US

Hello everyone. My name is Karena Qian and I am a second-year BC Running Start senior. I am currently working towards an AA in Arts and Science, which I will use to then transfer to a 4-year college to continue my studies and hopefully major in violin performance. As a classically trained pianist and violinist, I have participated in various music programs over the years, including SYAMF, PAFE, and SYSO. As an early music enthusiast, one of my dreams is to perform in an early music ensemble. I hope you enjoy my performance of Telemann’s Intrada Suite (“Gulliver’s Travels”).

Hello, my name is Sheyenne, and this is my second year in the running start program at BC. I’m planning to graduate this year with an AA in Arts and Science and transfer to a four-year college to earn a bachelor’s in photography. Along with my other classes, I’m currently taking second-year music theory at BC which has helped me so much as a musician. I’ve mainly been playing guitar for 5 years and piano for 1 year. Although I don’t plan to pursue music as a main career, I hope to continue learning about music and keep performing.

Nate Gilbreath is currently a senior attending Bellevue High School full-time. He plays trombone in the BC jazz band led by Jim Sisko every week. Currently, he is applying to music schools and conservatories across the US, including the Manhattan School of Music. Nate aspires to be a soloist on the trombone and to play creative music with similar like-minded people. In 2020, Nate was a member of the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, a jazz band composed of the most experienced kids in jazz from throughout the US.

My name is Evelyn Madewell, and this is my second year at Bellevue College. Music is an important part of my life as I am a dancer with the Ensemble Ballet Theatre, and also play the French Horn with the Issaquah Philharmonic Orchestra. I am a Running Start student, and I am planning on attending UW Engineering after high school.

My name is Alexander Aaby. I am excited to be a part of the BC recital. This is my first at Bellevue College as a running start student. This year has been very tricky with a lot of university applications, but I am still trying to make as much music as possible. When I am not doing school, you can oftentimes find me playing locally in Edmonds, Washington at the markets, on the lawn in front of Vogue, or at the beach. My favorite jazz musician is John Coltrane.
