Employees Recycling Batteries

Employees can recycle batteries from work and home with a Captain of Sustainability. Bellevue College has begun a new program in which employees can recycle their batteries from the office and home.

  • Alkaline Batteries ONLY
  • No lithium-ion batteries (laptops)

How does recycling batteries help?

Alkaline batteries contain heavy metals (mercury, lead, cadmium, nickel.) At the landfill, these harmful metals contaminate water and air, damaging the earth and health. Help the environment by simply recycling your batteries.

How can I recycle batteries?

Captains help the College dispose of batteries properly. Captains will collect your batteries and dispose of them with Facilities Operations. Over 40 Captains of Sustainability lead efforts across campus. Interested in solving environmental issues? Email sustainability@bellevuecollege.edu to learn more.
